Prime Minister of the Government of Rwanda, Dr Edouard Ngirente, visited the site with his delegation on 18 February 2023 as part of a larger tour of projects in the Eastern province. The Gabiro Agribusiness Hub aims to create a holistic and commercial agricultural ecosystem through developing a modern value chain. This includes advanced water infrastructure, cutting-edge irrigation systems, high-value agro-processing operations and other agricultural technology activities.

Together with the Shahid Afridi Foundation, we were motivated to enhance and improve the quality of life for the residence of Lora Miana, Mulagori. The newly built filtration plant will encourage the community to adopt healthy habits, provide safe drinking water, and protect the more vulnerable from the risks of water-related hazards.

SMEC has partnered with Oriental Consultants Global (OCG) to assist the Department of Transport, Communications & Infrastructure of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) in undertaking project prioritisation, readiness, and pilot-testing to prepare for the Asian Development Bank (ADB)-financed Sustainable Road Infrastructure Investment Project (SRIIP).

The Baime Hydropower Project in Morobe Province in Papua New Guinea is scheduled for commissioning by March 2023. With total installed capacity of 11.6 MW, the plant will be able to produce 81 GWh of hydroelectric energy annually.

The Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (DWASA) has appointed SMEC in a Joint Venture with ACE Bangladesh and Development Design Consultants Ltd as Project Management Consultant for the Dhaka Sanitation Improvement project (DSIP).

SMEC has been appointed by the Rwanda Transport Development Agency to provide consulting services for the supervision of upgrading works of Base-Butaro-Kidaho road. This 63km upgrade is in line with the Government of Rwanda’s national strategy for transformation, which focuses on development of infrastructure. As part of this, roads have been identified as a priority.
