The Roads and Highways Department, Bangladesh has appointed SMEC along with ACE and SYSTRA S. A (France) to undertake detailed feasibility studies and design for 14 planned bridges across the country. The bridges will be long span design and four or more lanes wide.

SMEC caps year with tree planting at La Mesa Watershed Reservation, Philippines 

Located in the north-eastern part of the metropolis, the 2,659 ha La Mesa Watershed Reservation is a protected area that contains the last remaining rainforest of its size surrounding the La Mesa Dam and Reservoir, the primary source of potable drinking water for 12 million residents in Metro Manila. The area comprises a variety of ecosystems that is home to many indigenous and endemic species of flora and fauna.

South Tube Civil works completed on landmark Tunnel under the Karnaphuli river, Chittagong

The construction of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel started back in 2017. SMEC, together with project partners, provided design review and supervision consultancy services. Around 94% construction works of the two tunnels have been completed, with electrical and mechanical work are still in progress.
