SMEC is helping transform the lives of hundreds of thousands of households in Cambodia’s Tonle Sap Lake region. The Tonle Sap Poverty Reduction and Smallholder Development Project (TSSD) will increase productivity of smallholder farms through community-driven infrastructure and capacity development.

The Bui Power Authority is expanding investment into solar photo voltaic (PV) resources. The initiative will support the Government of Ghana’s effort to increase renewable energy by 10% by 2030. The hybridisation of hydro dam operations with solar energy will also harness a more resilient energy supply.

On Thursday, June 17, 2022, Thwake dam hosted members of the Kenyan Regional Development Implementation Coordination Committee. The committee and accompanying delegates were given an in-depth tour of the dam and associated construction works which are currently 70% complete. Earlier in the week SMEC also welcomed members of the Dam Safety Panel of Experts as per international guidelines for dam safety inspection.
