Detailed design unveiled for Darsana to Mehepur via Mujibnagar railway project

SMEC recently held a workshop with the client and key stakeholders from the Darshana - Mujibnagar- Meherpur Railway Project (DMMRP) where the team unveiled their detailed design proposals. Appointed to the DMMRP in 2020, SMEC along with our sister company and delivery partner ACE Consultants has also completed feasibility and alignment studies for the project. The current alignment proposes three river crossings, traversing the Mathabhanga river twice and the Bhairab river once.

SMEC’s Oil & Gas design team, based in Pakistan has been engaged to deliver Front End Engineering Design (FEED) of a 270-kilometre long, 26-inch diameter multi-liquid fuel pipeline running from Accra, Ghana’s capital, to Kumasi, a large city in the Ashanti region.

Inauguration of University of Ghana Medical Center Primary Substation

A new 52 mega volt amps (MVA) primary substation and associated interconnecting circuits has been handed over to the Electricity Company of Ghana. Located at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) the Millennium Development Authority recently held an inauguration attended by senior dignitaries including the Ghana Deputy Minister for Energy, Mohammed Amin Adam.

Pandoh Bypass to Takoli (section of NH-21) in Himachal Pradesh, India is 75% complete

The Pandoh bypass to Takoli will provide all-weather connectivity to one of India’s most-favoured tourist destinations, Manali. It will become the largest cross-sectional tunnels in the region and reduce travel time from Mandi to Manali by 90 minutes. The project includes the construction of 10 tunnels, 1 elevated viaduct, 3 major bridges and 10 minor bridges.

SMEC South Africa appointed to National Route R521 road upgrade

SMEC South Africa’s Roads and Highways team have been awarded a major contract from South African National Roads Agency Limited (SANRAL) for the upgrade of a portion of the National Route R521 – a heavily trafficked road in Polokwane which in some parts carries up to 23 000 vehicles per day. North of Polokwane, the road quietens down as it makes its way through the beautiful Limpopo Bushveld on the way to Alldays and Mapungubwe.
