SMEC to support Super Trishuli Hydroelectric Project, Nepal
The Super Trishuli Hydroelectric Project is located on the Trishuli River in the Chitwan, Gorkha & Dhading districts in the Central Development Region of Nepal. The project is located approximately 100 km west of Kathmandu on Prithvi highway. Once complete, this project will assist to alleviate acute power shortages experience by the people of Nepal.

Lake Volta Master Plan: Regional Development Plan approval
SMEC recently met with the Lake Volta Steering Committee to present the draft Regional Development Plan which included concept options for the proposed masterplan development. The Steering Committee comprised a cross-section of the Volta River Authority Development Committee and selected Heads of the various government ministries.

SMEC engaged for power distribution modernisation project in Timor-Leste
SMEC has been contracted by Electricidade De Timor-Leste (EDTL) for the role of Project Supervision Consultants for the Power Distribution Modernisation Project in Timor-Leste. Supported by a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the project aims to assist EDTL in modernising the country’s power distribution system and strengthening institutional capacity.

SMEC commences the rehabilitation and upgrade of Shinyanga Regional Airport in Tanzania
This month SMEC mobilised a multi-disciplinary team to commence supervision of the rehabilitation and upgrading of buildings, runway and ancillary services of Shinyanga regional airport in northern Tanzania. The airport runway is predominantly gravel and grass measuring 2 km long and 30 m wide.
