opening
On 25 May, SMEC celebrated the grand opening of our new corporate office in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

To celebrate the occasion, the Tashkent team organised a traditional opening ceremony and speeches, followed by a dinner with traditional dancing and live music.

 

Guests included Dr. Uma Maheswaran, Chief Operating Officer (South Asia and Central Asia), Surbana Jurong, and SMEC Int. Pty Ltd., Mr. Kawa Baha, Executive Director – Central Asia & Caucasus and notable dignitaries from Enterprise Singapore, Singapore Cooperation Enterprise.

SMEC currently employs over 350 staff across the Caucasus and Central Asian Republics. In Uzbekistan, the team is already tackling three IFI funded water projects to help mitigate the effects of climate change and protect communities:
