SMEC supports Australia’s renewable energy future

SMEC is proud to continue our partnership with Fotowatio Renewable Venture (FRV) in delivering Owner’s Engineering services on the Winton Solar Farm, located near Benalla in Victoria. This is the third project that SMEC will partner with FRV to deliver as Owner’s Engineer, having contributed to delivering 253 Megawatts of FRV’s total 429-megawatt portfolio. Once completed, the Winton Solar Farm will provide enough energy to supply around 50,000 homes and offset around 150,000 tonnes of CO2.

SMEC continues to shape rail infrastructure in Indonesia

Following the successful delivery of the Palembang Light Rail Transit (LRT) system, the first of its kind in Indonesia, SMEC is pleased to continue partnering with Oriental Consultants Global (OCG) in carrying out supervision works for the Jabodebek LRT project, which when completed will become the first driverless LRT system in the country. Currently under construction, the system is planned to connect Jakarta city center with suburbs in the Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Region such as Bogor, Depok and Bekasi.

SMEC appointed Project Verifier for Nowra Bridge in NSW

SMEC has been awarded the Project Verification role on the AUD 342 million Nowra Bridge project under a tripartite agreement with Transport for NSW and Fulton Hogan. Fulton Hogan is currently undertaking the design and construction of the new incrementally launched four-lane bridge over the Shoalhaven River. The project also includes upgraded intersections and additional lanes on the Princes Highway.

SMEC studying feasibility of Pilikambi Hydropower Project in PNG

Continuing our partnership with Enga Hydro Power Limited, SMEC has been appointed to deliver a feasibility study for the next phase of the approximately 18 MW Pilikambi Hydropower Project in Papua New Guinea. SMEC successfully delivered the pre-feasibility study for the project which identified its technical and financial viability, submitting the pre-feasibility study report in July 2019.

Partnering to provide clean water to Rwandans

SMEC’s regional Africa team has been appointed to deliver a feasibility study and detailed design to rehabilitate the Nzove 1 Water Treatment Plant in Kigali City, Rwanda. The project will address the current shortage of clean water in Kigali by increasing the plant’s capacity from 40 megalitres per day to up to 65 megalitres per day.

Building multi-modal connectivity for Dhaka airport

SMEC has been appointed by the Roads and Highways Department in Dhaka, Bangladesh to provide engineering, procurement and construction management services on a key pedestrian tunnel that will connect the Airport Railway Station and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Station to the passenger terminals of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
