&
Ports
Conference
in
Queensland
SMEC Ports & Coastal have been selected to present at the 2023 Coasts & Ports Conference held in the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. The biannual event brings together likeminded professionals to discuss all things related to coastal and port engineering.

Marking 50 years of the industry, the 2023 conference provides a chance to reflect and also plan ahead for a future of anticipated change due to climate impacts, aging infrastructure and expanding cities.

An important design challenge of the coastal protection renewal and upgrade, centred around minimising seawall crest levels to protect the existing high-value coastal views and amenity, whilst also ensuring pedestrian safety and protection from the effects of wave overtopping. This paper presents the design approach and outcomes of key project studies and investigations.
