The project involved the construction of a six-lane road bridge providing three traffic lanes in each direction, a bicycle lane and footpaths in each direction. The scope of work included the structural design of the bridge, barriers, retaining wall foundations, rail infrastructure and strengthening of a major culvert, roadworks design, traffic signals, drainage and landscape architecture.
By raising the road over the rail line, the project has created paths and open spaced that has better connected the neighbourhood at ground level.
The objective of the project is to improve safety and reduce congestion for users of the Melton Highway, through the construction of a six-lane road bridge for cars, pedestrians and cyclists.
