Integrated port modernisation and asset management solutions

Ports and Maritime design requires in-depth knowledge and understanding of port systems, logistics and operations to determine optimum layout of ports and facilities; including required channel depth, berth size, terminal configuration, cargo handling equipment and throughput capacity. Having undertaken port planning and development for port freight and passenger facilities, SMEC has established a diverse portfolio in the design and construction of maritime infrastructure and development of ports.

SMEC’s port and maritime design capability extends to all aspects of associated infrastructure including road, rail, power supply, services, multi-modal transport systems, water management, communications, security, warehouses and buildings.

SMEC has led designs and implementation of several major port upgrades; including Lae Tidal Basin Phase 2 development in Papua New Guinea, Shuaiba Port and the Shuwaikh Port Expansion, Kuwait. Our team experience extends through all aspects of port design and associated infrastructure works. In accordance with global best practice, SMEC is assisting clients to modernise port facilities and increase capacity; including automation of terminal operations. We have successfully completed projects on container, multi-purpose and inland port facilities worldwide by providing a range of specialised services to the ports and maritime sector.
