Nowra Bridge Project Verification
The Nowra Bridge was listed as a key priority in the Australian Infrastructure 2020 Priority List. Working alongside delivery partners Fulton Hogan and Transport of New South Wales (TfNSW), SMEC was appointed to deliver necessary project verification servicers to create long-lasting project value.

The Princes Highway is the main link between Sydney and southern New South Wales, with over 51,000 vehicles using the existing crossings each day. The project is vital to improve safety for all road users, reducing congestion and supporting future growth.

Tripartite Agreement

In order to overcome challenges faced by Transport for New South Wales, SMEC was awarded the Project Verification role on the upgrade of the Nowra Bridge project.

To create a viable solution, SMEC entered a tripartite agreement with Transport for NSW and Fulton Hogan. This allowed for key solutions to be delivered through cohesive working partnerships, major upgrades of intersections, and additional lanes on the Princes Highway.

Design Verification

SMEC acted as the Project Verifier, making major decisions concerning the design and construction of the Nowra Bridge.

The award of this contract follows SMEC’s high level of performance on the verification of the Batemans Bay Bridge project and is further testament to SMEC’s position as a key provider of verification and certification services on major infrastructure projects.
