As the built environment accelerates its adoption of new systems and technology, asset management and operational capacity must maintain pace. We support regions that lack adequate governance structures or knowledge capacity, to help build resilience and longevity.

Our expertise

We have assisted clients across a range of infrastructure and development projects. For many of our projects SMEC participates in system monitoring, which includes training applicants to use new equipment, digital systems, and training operators to build inhouse reporting and evaluation capacity. Some recent examples include:

  • In Georgia we have supported the roads department adopt a project management dashboard to help manage projects remotely. In Tajikistan SMEC is supporting owners of water infrastructure assets to build knowledge capacity for future operational management.
  • SMEC has provided consultancy services to the Government of Cambodia aimed at strengthening the capacity of Government departments to implement projects to address disaster risk management.
  • At the Irrigation and Drainage Improvement Project, Kazakhstan, our role also included strengthening the capacity of farmers and farm managers in efficient water management and sustainable agriculture production facilities.
  • Jal Jeevan mission, India includes extensive training at government and community level to ensure new water infrastructure is used correctly and maintained efficiently.
  • Ghana Power Compact included a full training program to launch and implement the adoption of a new GIS monitoring systems for the Accra power network.
