Project Overview
Located in the Chaghi District of Balochistan in Pakistan, Reko Diq is a large copper and gold deposit containing 12.3 million tons of copper and 20.9 million ounces of gold in inferred and indicated resources. A further 14 mineralised porphyry bodies are known to exist, with the potential to place Reko Diq as one of the world’s largest undeveloped copper projects.
The overall objective of this project was to establish the basis for mine development at Reko Diq with the view to building and operating a world class copper-gold open-pit mine.
A feasibility study was required to define the scope, cost, schedule and execution plan for the first phase of the project in order to gain funding approval for construction. A pre-feasibility study was also undertaken to define the subsequent growth phases of the project.
